Saving the Birthplace Honours the Prophet saw
To honour /honouring the Prophet saw is of immense importance in Islam
Believers honour the Day of His saw Birth
Believers must also honour the Place of His saw Birth
Saving the Birthplace is High Public Honouring of the Prophet saw
God Demands that the Prophet saw be Honoured
"God and His angels shower their
blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you should also send your blessings on him, and salute
him with a worthy greeting."
33:56
God has bestowed upon the Prophet saw honours, eminences, decorations, and positions in Divine recognition of:
- The Prophet’s saw tremendous
significance for God.
- The Prophet’s saw distinguished
standing in the universe, as second-in-
command.
- The Prophet's saw services to the various communities of creatures
inhabiting the universe: humans, spirits,
jinn, angels, and other celestial beings
The reasons for publicising the Divine recognition are:
- To demonstrate that honouring the Prophet
saw is so essential that God Himself
does so. deserving of
- To remind human beings of the benefits
received by them on account of the Prophet
saw.
- To advise humankind to follow God's
example, and honour the Prophet saw.
Preserving the sacred site near the Kaaba, which was prepared by God for the august entry of His Prophet saw into this world, is one of the most fitting means/ways to honour the Prophet saw.
Obtaining Honour
The two ways in which honour may be acquired are: it can be Ascribed or Achieved.
Ascribed Honour is awarded through no action on ones part. For example, in some cultures, the position of a family in society ascribes honour to its members, such as children of the nobility or of certain religious groups; in others, the order of birth assigns honour - first born sons are imparted greater honour than a second or third born son.
Ascribed honour can also be conferred when a person or being of greater honour assigns a position of honour on another person. For example, if/where a primeminister appoints an individual to the post of a minister within their government, the individual is thereby granted honour.
The Caliph Umar ibn Al-Khattab on Ascribed Honour:
“We were the most humiliated people on earth and God gave us honour through Islam. If we seek honour through anything else, God will humiliate us again.”
Achieved Honour is earned honour through actions such as public performances, political activity, religious movements, social behaviour, or outstanding or unique achievements. Achieved honour is most comparable to common notions of reputation or fame.
The Caliph Abu Bakr on Achieved Honour:
“Glory is as easy to grasp as a dagger. It draws attention to its bearer like a blade flashing in the sun. Honour, on the other hand, requires discipline and compassion and self-respect. It often works silently, without recognition or the desire for it. Honour comes only after years of effort and, once grasped, is even more difficult to hold."
The Prophet saw possessed both
Achieved Honour and Ascribed Honour
Achieved Honour
During the course of his saw 23-year term of office, the Prophet's saw complete surrender to the Will of God, his saw lifestyle choice of poverty over wealth, his saw sustained courage in the face of numerous challenges, his saw personal sacrifices, and his saw mission accomplishments, accorded him saw unparalleled Achieved Honour.
Ascribed Honour
God's bestowal of Ascribed Honour on the Prophet saw was through the awarding of innumerable gifts and graces to the Prophet saw. The following nine are particularly celebrated:
-- Most Imitated Person In History
-- Highest Number of Practising Followers -- The Perfectly Perfect Human Being
-- Leader of The Divine Envoys Ams -- Greatest Number of Miracles Performed
-- Personification of God’s Mercy to Human Beings
-- Holder of the Station of Praise
-- Traveller to the Divine Presence - The Miraj
-- Possessor of Immense Supernatural Abilities
Most Imitated Person In History
The Prophet saw is the most imitated person in history.
The widespread emulation of the Prophet saw is a Divine honour which has ensured that, in tangible thought and deed, the Prophet saw has been imitated by the greatest number of human beings, of any historic figure.
Furthermore, amongst the billions of men and women who have followed and replicated the thoughts and practices of a notable personality, those that emulate the Prophet saw do so to a far greater extent than followers of other individuals.
This large-scale duplication of the Prophet’s saw personality, beliefs, customs, and actions has enabled the Prophet saw to be, arguably, the best ‘remembered’ personality – in the truest sense of the word - in history.
This is due entirely to the fact that the Prophet’s saw life is the most analysed and documented of any human life. The level of detail is breath-taking and surpasses every other personage, including those of the recent past, in the twentieth Century; no entertainment-industry performer, sports player/participant, inventor, artist, musician, scientist, philosopher, monarch, political leader, or religious figure has had every aspect of their life, private and public, so thoroughly studied, documented, explained, and publicised.
The intention behind the meticulous recording of the Prophet’s saw life, was to facilitate its successful emulation by the world at large.
The Prophet’s saw mission was to inspire people to adopt the Divinely ordained belief system and way of life, which were, in themselves, preparation for the critical meeting with God that will take place on the Day of Judgement: an encounter in which the ultimate fate of each human being will be determined – either the bliss of heaven or the horrors of hell; and an assembly where ‘No man will be able to give succour to another and no mother will be able to save her own child.’
God did not create human beings just to punish them. Every opportunity is to be afforded to humankind to avoid purgatory, and this has been the prime objective of the 124,000 envoys sent to humankind, since its creation. The responsibility to lead this campaign in the final phase of human existence in this world, was given to the Prophet Muhammad’s saw. A key feature of the drive was a practical demonstration of the desired lifestyle, in everyday life, and for a sustained period, so as to embed it more effectively into the consciousness of the community.
QUOTE
God wanted the Prophet’s saw life recorded in meticulous detail, so that it could be remembered and replicated at the same level..
Highest Number of Practicing Followers
Another Honour that God has bestowed on the Prophet saw is the exceptionally high level of compliance to God’s commandments by the Prophet’s saw followers, in comparison to the adherence to those decrees by followers of other Prophets ams.
According to the Quran, since the creation of the world, God has sent a hundred and twenty-four thousand prophets to guide the various peoples spread over the earth:fn1
“And every people had a guide”.
[13:7]
When the revelatory wisdoms of one prophet faded or were forgotten, the link was reforged by the sending of another prophet. The last prophet to be sent was the Prophet Muhammad saw, after whom the prophetic age came to a completion and close.
FT1. As per Ibn Hanbal, Musnad, 5:265. The hadith with its collective chains yields a final grading of hasan; as demonstrated in al-Albani, Silsilat al-Ahadiih al-Sahihah (Riyadh: Maktabah al-Ma‘arif, 2005), no.2668.
Pews research has measured levels of religiosity amongst followers of the world’s major religions, and its findings have highlighted that the greatest level of adherence to original core beliefs, of any religion, occurs in Islam. Two examples of the take-up of challenging practices, which are embedded in many world religions, serve to illustrate this point:
Fasting
One of the most difficult religious obligations known to humankind is fasting. Most religions have advocated fasting, but the bulk of their followers today eschew the practice or attach any significance to it.
However, 93% fn1 of Muslims worldwide fast completely from sunrise till sunset, for 29-30 days each year, during the month of Ramadan. The fast involves not consuming any meals, foods or liquids for the duration of the rite - a period which can extend, depending on time of year and location, for up to 18 hours a day. The fasting is purported to deliver not only health benefits, but also spiritual rewards. [[mention health benefits]]
Show other religions………………….
##Show Pews findings for other religions In comparison….
Praying 63% of Muslims perform the five daily ritual prayers. This includes Muslims praying at their workplaces and at educational establishments (schools, colleges, universities), as well within their homes and in mosques.
Unlike Christian prayer/s, for example, which can be carried out seated, the Muslim prayer is a ‘whole/full-body’ procedure involving standing, bowing, and prostrating on the floor. The worshipper is required to have performed a specific ablution and pray on either a clean floor or prayer mat.
What is remarkable about the extensive observance of Islamic prayers, is that the typical reasons cited for non-performance of ritual prayers or ceremonies by followers of other religions – lack of knowledge of prayer or of its importance, dearth of ‘conditions’ suitable for prayer in everyday life, absence of incentive, or time constraints caused by the need to perform tasks regarded as of greater priority - employment, study, rest, housework, socialising, and sleep - do not prevent the majority of Muslims from praying.
It is notable, that prayer levels are also high amongst Muslims living in non-Muslim countries where they are often forced to contend with frequent unavailability of facilities for ablution and prayer, as well as ridicule of Muslim prayer practices, and secular trends attempting to diminish religiosity.
Finally, whereas the incidence of praying, whether once a day or once a week, is low in other religions, despite the rituals often being less arduous than in Islamic prayers, the majority of Muslims perform the prayer practice 5 times a day.

Despite there being a passage of 1500 years since the establishment of Islam, the two primary sources of guidance for Muslims: the revelation (Quran), and the documentation of the Prophet’s saw supplementary guidance through his saw sayings and actions (Hadiths), remain preserved and unaltered. The central practices: the five daily prayers, fasting, compulsory charitable donations y-giving, and pilgrimage, are also safeguarded and practiced by the majority of followers.
The faith is, therefore, as originally intended – a ‘liveable’ religion, one that has combined a retention of its fundamental tenets with a pragmatic understanding of human nature, and an ability to adapt to changing times. Its format has allowed the faith to become a widely ‘lived religion’ which is able to be followed in its true spirit, in all times and conditions, by the majority of followers who now number almost 2 billion people - one-fifth of humanity.
Quality and Quantity
Whilst all correct devotion to God, irrespective of religion, is appreciated by Muslims, the quality of the adherence to the Prophet’s saw faith by his saw followers, and the sheer quantity of those followers, is viewed by Muslims as a remarkable achievement putting Islam ahead of other religions when a similar assessment is made of the number and religiosity of their adherents. This accomplishment is attributed not to the Muslim community, but singularly to God, Who willed and granted this success to the Prophet’s saw community, to honour the Prophet saw.
The Perfectly Perfect Human
The Award Of Perfection
God gives perfection to an individual as a gift - it is not his/hers in essence.
The Prophet saw was the supremely Perfect Man (al-insan al-kamil). In every class of being in this world, God has created a perfect specimen, incorporating within it all the perfections of that species. According to Islamic belief, in humankind, the Prophet saw was the highest form of human being, possessing the full spectrum of spiritual, intellectual, and physical brilliances.
A normal human being inherently signifies God within his/her essence, but the Prophet saw advanced to such a degree of human excellence, that he saw became a denotative of God, manifesting the essence of revelation and the Divine Presence.
The Purpose Of Creation
The ultimate objective behind creation is God’s desire to disclose Himself - to be known and worshipped. Such high discloser and manifestation is fulfilled through the Perfect human being – the only creature capable of reflecting all God’s names.
According to Islamic doctrine, the essence of God is absolutely hidden and cannot be comprehended. Human beings can seek knowledge of God through His names and attributes. God is infinite perfection and each name and attribute of God indicates one of His perfections.
Attaining the state of human perfection depends upon the integration of the Divine Names. Through such assimilation, the individual transforms into a human being embodying divine traits, and the capacity of being, so to speak, a mirror image to God and a flawless reflection of the Divine to humanity. The Prophet saw was the only individual to have absolutely realised this state, since it is only in him saw that the Divine names were revealed in complete harmony and perfection. The Prophet saw is, thus, the most immaculate manifestation of God’s names and attributes, and therefore, the primary means by which God ‘sees’ Himself.
The other prophets ams of God also belong to the category of Perfect Men; their levels of perfection, however, were lower than that of the Prophet saw, with each attaining the degree of perfection which accorded with his as individual capacity to approach God.
Perfection through Servanthood
The Prophet’s saw most distinguished quality was “the servant” (al-‘abd). True freedom [and excellence] lies in realising the correct relationship between God and humanity – Lord and servant. He who performs all the duties of being a servant to God is free from all that is other than God.
Becoming a Perfect Individual requires that God create the conditions that allow a person to relinquish his/her own will, which is imperfect, and replace it with the will of God. Such submission results in the person being completely effaced and humble before his/her Lord, becoming as/like a gleaming mirror in which God’s Attributes shine and are reflected.
The Prophet saw gave up his selfhood entirely in order to be open to the will of God. His saw personality, identity, desires, and ambitions were all renounced, allowing his saw self to be consumed by the will of God. The Prophet’s saw obedience and purification of soul reached depths previously unattained by any creature, and his saw surrender to God was so complete, that God… quranic verse…well pleased …
The Quran constantly recalls the Prophet’s saw status as God’s elect alongside his saw complete dependence on his Lord. This is especially true when he saw is termed “servant” (ʿabd) or slave, one who has nothing (not even liberty), and who acts only on his master’s orders. It is because he saw is stripped of all individuality and is a servant that the Prophet saw is worthy to receive the graces of God, and become a model.
❝ The reason the Prophet saw is God’s elect is because he saw is God’s servant, and the inverse is also true.❞
Glorification and service so perfectly rendered and accomplished that the divine ….. could freely say, “….. in whom I am well pleased.”
Give hilself wholly to his sacred office.
To avoid all possible confusion between the divine and the human, the Qurʾān emphasises the Prophet’s saw humanity and that of the other prophets, while also evoking their elect status and the specific graces with which they are blessed.
The Prophet saw was a human being, and was neither an incarnation of God nor in any other way divine; and yet he saw was also not an ordinary mortal. While man, in general, is regarded as the vice-gerent of God, the Prophet saw, as the “perfectly” Perfect Man, demonstrated through the manner in which he saw showed forth the will, knowledge and attributes of God, that he saw was both the completest representation of God on earth that is possible through a creature, and the most effective substantiation of God.
Leader of the Divine Envoys
The Holy Race
The Prophets ams of God are a holy race. They were bestowed with elevated levels of holiness by their Lord. Prophethood is the highest rank of humankind, and the closest relationship an individual can have with the Divine.
The prophets ams, as formal representatives of God, are tasked with effecting societal change to bring tribes, nations, or even the entire world, into a way of life that conforms to the standards desired by God.
The missions of most prophets ams encompass both the theoretical and practical aspects of their followers’ lives; the prophets ams not only convey God’s universal order, through the teaching of divine knowledge, but also determine the direction of everyday life, by revealing and enacting Divinely ordained Law.
The Gift of Prophecy
Prophecy/Prophetship is a singular Divine favour, granted by God to those selected by Him in accordance with His plan for creation. Prophethood is not acquired through personal achievements, and is also not in any sense an appointment for which recompense will be sought for. The bestowal of prophecy is a pure gift.
Why are Prophets needed?
Humanity could not be created and left alone without guidance in the hope that it may somehow chance upon God and the purpose of its existence. The Creator needed to repeatedly communicate with the human race in order to steer it towards achieving the outcome He desired of it.
If ordinary human beings were capable of conversing with God, then He could have imparted His Word and commands to each human directly, without employing intermediaries, such as archangels as and Prophets ams, between Himself and humanity. The Divine practice of placing go-betweens between Himself and His creation is necessary due to human fragility. In order to be able to interact directly with God, to receive revelations and to interpret them correctly, and to enact divine laws, every human being would have to:
(i) Reach prophetic levels of intellectual and spiritual performance through executing the same self-purification, development, conditioning, and servitude to God, as the Prophets ams carried out. Such preparation took many years, sometimes decades, to accomplish and often entailed great personal sacrifices, including long periods of isolation from family and society;
(ii) Practice the demanding levels of worship, obedience, cleanliness, and abstinence required each day;
(iii) Withstand the enervating/debilitating? physical effects of receiving revelation—mention effects. The overwhelming majority of human beings would not be able to, or willing to, expend the requisite effort or endure the hardships associated with, direct communication with the Divine.
Prophetic Qualities
By virtue of the nature of their missions, Prophets ams are required be, ‘enhanced’ human beings. They have the features of humans in relation to their bodies, and that of angels in respect of their souls and inner beings.
Generally, the external form of a Prophet as – the appearance and structure of his physical body - is characterised by the qualities of human beings for corporeal matters such as illness, death, and for exhibiting the model-human persona. Prophets ams are sent in human form for they are to guide and lead human beings. And it is through their humanoid side, that prophet’s ams display many of their states and acts that testify to their veracity and prophethood, and provide common ground with their intended audience, through which the latter can relate and follow.
In contrast, the Self (soul?) of a prophet, which has reached the zenith of human development and refinement, acquires qualities akin to angelic attributes, and is free from any possibility of alteration or sin?.
The balance between a prophet’s human and superhuman /supernatural sides is/must be upheld…If a prophet were able to abandoned his human state [if a prophet’s human state were to cease and the Prophet to become] completely and become extra-ordinary in all aspects, he would face difficulties being accepted as a leader by a sceptical, alien ….. nor would he be able to instruct human beings through/with his [physical] acts, states, and conduct, for his abnormal persona would create obstacles in the way of his followers understanding, connecting/relating with, or imitating him.
Similarly, if the Self of a prophet as had been completely human, in the manner of their external structure, then he as would not possess the capability – as ordinary humans do not - to interact with a type of creation that is wholly different from human beings, created from light (Noor) and celestial in nature: the angelic realm; Without possessing the unhuman/extra para/normal/spiritual qualities necessary to engage with spiritual beings, a prophet would not be able to perceive or communicate with angels, let alone be in a position to receive divine revelation through them.
The Prophetic Consciousness is able to discern, to a far greater degree, the subtleties and nuances involved in the Prophet’s relationship with God, than ordinary mortals perceive about their connections to the Divine. When he petitions God for the fulfilment of a need, a prophet does so with the high etiquette demanded in communications with the Divine: a complete awareness of divine pleasure and displeasure, a deep sensitivity to maintaining the balance between hope and fear, a posture of self-effacement, and a display of sublime courteousness; in response, God graces each word uttered by the Prophet with recognition and fulfilment.
Every human has a personal relationship with God which enables him/her to seek God’s aid in the satisfaction of a need, and humans are encouraged to seek assistance from God; however, there is no divine guarantee for the acceptance of every prayer, and some prayers are rejected for reasons such as: weakness of faith, absence of etiquette, lack of merit, and the wish being sought/desired solution being harmful for the prayee. In contrast, the prophet’s prayer, due to his [high] status, perfect intelligence, and impeccable articulation, finds immediate approval.
Headship of the Prophetic Realm
In terms of his saw role as a Prophet, the Prophet Muhammad was honoured by God in 3 ways:
1. He was granted leadership of over all prophets ams.
2. He was the Prophet for the entire world.
3. His religion was to last for the longest period.
1. He was granted leadership of over all prophets ams
The Prophet Muhammad saw was the last in a series of 124,000 prophets sent by God. While he saw was the last prophet to be sent, he saw was the first one to be chosen. The Prophet Muhammad’s saw soul was created, and he saw was granted prophetship, before the creation and appointing of all other prophet ams. The Prophet saw taught that his existence preceded that of Adam (alaihi salaam), the first human and prophet: “Verily I was written in Allah's Presence as the Seal of Prophets while when Adam was still kneaded in his clay.”[4] In another narration it is said, “I was a Prophet while Adam was still between the spirit and the body.”[5]
[4] Narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and al-Hakim in his Mustadrak.
[5] Tirmidhi narrated it and said it hasan sahih, and it is authenticated by al-Hakim 2:609 as sahih, and also narrated by Ibn Abi Shayba in his Musannaf 14:292, and al-Bukhari in his Tarikh 7:374.
Whereas all prophets are part of the elite human class of Divine envoys, in Islam, some are recognised as being superior to others. The Quran highlights this hierarchy: “Those apostles We endowed with gifts, some above others”. (al-Baqarah, 253; al-Isra 21, 55)
(ii) Imam of Prophets’ Prayer Assembly
The bestowing of the leadership of prophets ams, was demonstrated by God through the …. appointing the Prophet saw to lead the congregational prayers held on the night of the Miraj, which were attended by all other Prophets ams spiritually.
(iii) the leadership was demonstrated through many [God-given] features of his saw mission, … largest flock, territory, longest term of the application of a religion without any further Prophet’s to reinvigorate, only Prophet ams to meet God, name on throne,

2. He was the Prophet for the entire world
Prophet saw for whole Humanity
The key difference between all the previous prophets (alaihim us salaam) and the Prophet saw is that the former were dispatched [sent] only to their respective nations, whereas the Prophet Muhammad’s saw mission was directed to the entire world. The responsibility to deliver guidance to all of humankind would only be assigned by God to an individual who was genuinely capable and deserving of the position, and the Prophet Muhammad’s saw appointment to this role, recognised both his saw superior prophetic qualities, and Divine confidence in the Prophet’s saw ability to be the catalyst for the most profound transformation of the world in human history.
All human beings are members of the community the Prophet saw.
"This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you and have chosen for you as your religion Islam."
(The Qur'an 5:3)
3. His religion was to last until Judgement Day
The Prophet Muhammad saw was Khatam al-Anbiya (the Last Prophet).
With the Prophet Muhammad’s saw tenure, divine revelation was concluded, the establishment of the Law meant to guide humanity, until the Day of Judgement, was accomplished, and prophethood came to a close. All the prophets that preceded [prior to] the Prophet Muhammad saw brought only parts of the whole Law, and the honour was given to [it was left] to the Chief Prophet saw to reveal the complete Divinely preferred model for human life, one that was designed to be easily adoptable by people across the world, and robust enough to remain intact/uncorrupted throughout the remaining period of human existence in this world.
In terms of the prophetic sphere, the Prophet Muhammad’s saw term was, at the same time, the cessation of prophethood, and its climax. The long-awaited prophetship, that was recognised first by the Prophet Adam as, the first human and Prophet, when he …………………………………… came to pass, to prepare the final phase of human existence, for the ending of that existence, and the commencement of judgement.
Islam as the final manifestation of the divine word to humanity. He is the Seal of the Prophets
or as phases in the completion of the prophetic cycle?
Through his position as the final prophet, as well as the chief prophet, the Prophet Muhammad saw witnessed the missions of all the prophets ams before him saw. He was privy to their knowledge and reached their various stations of Prophetship, before ascending to his saw own position of seniority. Thus, he saw possessed the most complete knowledge of Prophetship, of its entire history and methodology. He was, therefore, the absolute Prophet, and one who, according to Islamic belief, the other Prophets ams will appeal to, on the Day of Judgement, to aid in gaining salvation for their flocks, from God.

QUOTE: Miracles (karamat ) signaled a temporary suspension of the natural order of things through divine intervention.
The Decorations Of Miracles
The Islamic concept of prophethood includes validation of a prophet's authenticity by the assigning of miraculous powers to that prophet by the Divine. Miracles contravene natural phenomena and lie beyond the powers of human beings and jinn. Their manifestation is considered a sign of prophethood, and although the miracle is performed by a prophet, its occurrence is dependent on God’s Will, and can only take place if it is granted by God.
The Prophet Muhammad saw performed an estimated 3000 miracles during his tenure. This volume of supernatural happenings is far in excess of that exhibited by any other Prophet as, and reflects the greater scope of the Prophet Muhammad’s saw mission which was addressed not to a specific populace, as with preceding Prophets ams, but to all of humanity; in addition, the religion that the Prophet Muhammad saw brought was not intended for a [particular] limited timespan, but to exist throughout the entire final phase of humankinds’ existence in this world, WHICH WAS USHERED IN/after the advent of Islam – which thus far has subsisted for 1500 years,
A Powerful Call
The sheer immensity of the task of convincing billions of human beings to believe in him saw, and eschew their chosen way of life, in favour of the lifestyle preferred by God, required the broadcasting of a tremendously powerful message/address, one that would resonate across the world - amongst the most diverse communities - and down through the centuries till Judgement Day, intact and relevant.
The message had to take into account that the era of the Prophet’s saw religion was to include, and be compelled to respond to, powerful competing ideologies such as the domination of the world by science and technology, and the onslaught of secularism; the former seeks to replace God, in human consciousness, in providing for humanity’s needs, while the latter strives to eradicate belief in the existence of the Divine, religion, the supernatural, and the spiritual world.
The message that is propagated to corroborate prophetic claims, uptil the present day, comprises four key features of the Prophet’s saw mission: his saw teachings, character, accomplishments, and miracles.
The Efficacy of Miracles
The inevitable variations in the intellectual, mental, and spiritual abilities of the people comprising the community around the Prophet saw, meant that they accepted the Prophet saw and Islam based on differing grounds: some were guided by recognizing the truth in the message itself, due to the purity of their own nature, such as Abu Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq (later to become the first Caliph of Islam); some recognized the truth through the impeccable character of its bearer, such as Khadīja b. Khuwaylid (the Prophet’s saw first wife); a third segment of the community was impressed by the achievements of the Prophet’s saw; while a fourth of was brought to faith by God through miracles – these were individuals whose initial conviction hinged on the performance of miracles, for such was their intellectual orientation, and also to be, their path to faith.
When the Prophet Muhammad saw declared prophethood, people demanded miracles from him saw to substantiate his saw claim:
“And they say, "We will not believe you until you break open for us from the ground a spring”.
“Or [until] you have a garden of palm trees and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance].”Al-Quran (365: 90-92)
Miraculous powers or events were taken to be a distinguishing trait of a prophet:
“And they said: Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord? Say: Allah is certainly able to send down a sign, but most of them know not”. Al-Quran(165: 37) Surah Al Anam
In addition to bringing people to faith, miracles also serve to augment existing faith by inspiring those who read accounts of the happenings to enhance their respect for, and belief in, the Prophet Muhammad saw. Reflecting on miracles where God extends mercy and aid to stricken human beings, results in the development of firm confidence in Divine Providence and assistance in times of hardship and difficulty. Comprehending the reality of Divine omnipotence, as manifested through these miracles, enables an individual to expand their horizons and purge themselves of self-limiting beliefs: one recognizes that the natural order, seemingly fixed, is in fact entirely contingent on the Divine Will.
Types of Miracles
The miracles that were manifested by the Prophet saw were of two kinds: those such as the ascension to heaven (The Miraj), the splitting of the moon into two halves, and the moaning of the pole, were manifested solely in order to make people assent to his prophethood. It occurred solely as a proof, an affirmation, of prophethood, to increase the believers’ faith, to urge the dissemblers to sincerity and belief, and to bring to belief the unbelievers.
However, the miracles concerning matters such as food and water while also being proofs of his saw claim to prophethood and miracles, they also had a functional dimension their basic aim was this: the army was hungry so Almighty God provided a feast for a thousand men out of a handful of food from His treasury in the Unseen, just as He creates a thousand pounds of dates from a single seed. And for a thirsty army fighting in His way, He caused water to flow like the water of Kawthar.
Although the miracles of the Prophet saw were performed within his earthly life, not all of them were revealed or discovered within that period. Some were directed at people living in distant/later centuries, when humankind’s understanding of science, medicine, astronomy, physics, etc. would be sufficiently advanced so as to be able to recognise and appreciate the miracle.
were suitably equipped, understand and appreciate the some of the miracles embodied in the Quran, such as the description of the development of the embryo and the centrality of Mecca in the world….
The constraints on miracles
The Prophet’s saw miracles were carefully calibrated so as not to occur in such an overtly self-evident [such an obvious] fashion as would have compelled all observers to believe, whether willingly or unwillingly. Miracles were for proving claims to prophethood, and convincing those who denied such claims; they were not for obliging people to believe.
Human beings are required to believe in God and lead their earthly lives in the manner God endorses; they are also answerable to God for the actions performed in this life. This accountability requires that a person be endowed with the faculties of reason and power of choice, and be permitted to use these unimpeded as they chart their course through life, and submit to the Divinely arranged examinations and trials that are a component of the accountability process.
It would have been contrary to the concept of human responsibility, if miracles had occurred at an explicitly undeniable level, for such irrefutability would amount to using coercion on the observer’s intelligence and preventing the use of his free will; there would remain no choice for an eyewitness’s reason but to accept/affirm the Prophet Muhammad’s saw prophethood. Such duress, then, would only serve to undermine the notions of testing and answerability.
Miracles were, therefore, manifested [[to individuals who witnessed the Prophet Muhammad’s saw claims to prophethood, ]] at a degree that would constitute persuasion, and not annulment of the reason’s power to choose, nor compulsion [on it[ to accept the miracle.
The success of this policy of constraining the shock-value of miracles [[ in order to uphold the power of choice of witnesses,]] is demonstrated by the fact that while thousands of people came to believe in the Prophet saw through observing just a single one of the Prophet’s saw miracles, or hearing a simple sermon, or appreciating the Prophet’s saw persona, a sizeable number still rejected the faith despite observing and learning of these and other supernatural happenings and unexplainable wonders.
EXTRA IF NEEDED:
The Prophet saw was honoured with paranormal phenomena in order to prove his prophethood to obstinate unbelievers, and from time to time performed miracles as the need arose.
Personified God's Mercy Towards Human Beings
God honoured the Prophet saw by appointing him saw as the cause of Divine mercy upon all human beings. The Quran declares:
“We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures.”
(Al-Anbiyaa’ 21:107)
The Prophet's saw mercy is both the reason for Divine mercy upon humankind, and the manifestation of that mercy. Various aspects of the raison d'être of Islam illustrate the mercy of God being dispensed through the Prophet saw.
(i) The Warning to Seek Safety The primary objective of the faith brought by the Prophet saw, is to remind humankind of the purpose of its creation and, thereby, save it from failure on the Day of Judgement. This decision to warn and stimulate humanity to this end, is the greatest Divine mercy on mankind in this final phase of human existence.
(ii) The Make-Up of the Warning
The composition of the religion itself, also constituted a mercy. In order to achieve its objective of redeeming as many human beings as possible, Islam would need to be of such a construct as to command widespread attention and commitment. A religion, no matter how beneficial, amounted to a disservice to humanity if it did not embody the characteristics to attract human beings to consider its message, in the first place, or to convince them to practice the faith on a permanent basis; the results would, undoubtedly, be a wholesale failure at human salvation.
The Divinely-influenced formation of Islam gained extensive appeal by propounding fundamental truths; there was a particular emphasis on overcoming the lure of secularism - the key obstacle to the acceptance of religion. Islam was designed to be logical, feasible, adaptable, and relevant, and to remain so over the centuries. The faith:
- Is in accord with scientific and medical-psychological principles;
- Requires the minimum commitment from believers in terms of time and effort to fulfill their regular religious obligations and rituals;
- Is intended for an era in world history where the influences of science and secularism would be widespread;
- Defines, unambiguously, the benefits of belief and obedience to God – Divine pleasure, forgiveness, and the granting of heaven; and the consequences of disbelief and disobedience - Divine anger, and punishment in this life, in the grave, and in Hell;
- Contains no superstitions, man-made creeds, blasphemous beliefs, or irrational doctrines;
- Emphasises moderation in all aspects of life, including observation of the religion itself;
- Disproves of extreme positions such as a monkish lifestyle, celibacy, and asceticism, and encourages integration into society;
- Promotes the fulfillment of universal human needs and requirements, such as education, employment, marriage, child-rearing, extended families/care of parents, mental health, physical health, leisure, charity and volunteer work, etc.
(iii) The Prophet’s saw presence and example
God’s guidance to humanity could have been disclosed simply through the revealing of the Quran only, and then allowing human beings to interpret it for themselves, and to adopt it on their own terms - without any further Divine intervention.
However, God’s benevolence towards those whom He created, and knowledge of their vulnerabilities, demanded that they be nursed more intensively, through the sending of the Prophet saw. This last was intended so that humankind could more easily fulfill their obligations to know and worship God, and, thereby, achieve the final outcome that God wanted: that as many humans as possible become deserving of heaven by the end of their earthly lives.
Not sending the Prophet saw could have been construed as an act of indifference to the plight of human beings, and the dispatching of the Prophet saw dispels this notion and is outstanding evidence of Divine compassion for human beings.
Universal Clemency
The Prophet’s saw (s) mercy was wide-ranging, and included believers, non-believers, and the hypocrites within the Muslim community.
The Mercy for Believers
The presence of the Prophet saw in the world, his saw example (Sunnah), and his saw verbal guidance (Hadith) were to achieve, particularly, the following four objectives for believers:
(1) To motivate believers to follow the Divine commandments. God’s forgiveness reaches the believers only through their obedience to the Prophet saw, which, in turn, results in correct adherence to Divine decrees.
Say (O Muḥammad): “If ye do love God, Follow me: God will love you and forgive you your sins”.
(Quran 3:31)
(2) To act as God’s, mild and lenient, reminder to follow Divine commandments.
It is by the Mercy from God that you (O Muhammad) were gentle with them, for if you had been stern of heart they would have dispersed from around you. (Quran 3:159)
(3) To ward-off Divine punishment:
The presence of the Prophet saw keeps at-bay God’s punishment:
But Allah would not punish them while you, [O Muhammad], are among them, and God would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.
(Quran 8:33)
(4) To grant the Prophet’s saw personal forgiveness
As well as seeking God’s forgiveness for the Believers, the Prophet saw has also been commanded to pardon the Believers by his saw own act of forgiveness.
So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them.
(Quran 3:159)
The Mercy for Hypocrites and Non-Believers
One of the differences between the Prophet Muhammad’s saw mission and those of previous Prophets ams, is the lifting of certain penalties for wrongdoing during the Prophet Muhammad’s saw tenure.
The hypocrites within the Muslim community conspired repeatedly to sabotage the Prophet’s saw mission, and harm the nascent Muslim community; however, the Prophet saw spared them the customary punishments of the era for such crimes: imprisonment or the death penalty.
The Divine practice regarding those that witness a Prophetic call and choose to remain non-believers, or mock or subvert a Prophet’s mission, was often annihilation. The imposition of this penalty was demonstrated in the destruction of the communities who inflicted ill-treatment on the Prophets Noah, Aad, Thamoud, and Lout ams. The Old Testament also mentions these episodes??
For the Prophet Muhammad’s saw earthly term in prophethood, however, this default policy of Divine chastisement was revoked in honour of the presence of the Prophet saw in the world. The non-believers were not only secure from this type of retribution, while in this world, but they were also afforded minority rights and state protection to practice their chosen faiths.
The Mercy on the Day of Judgement The manifestation of God’s mercy through the Prophet saw does not conclude with the ending of this world, but continues into Judgement Day. The Prophet saw is to, firstly, prepare human beings to meet God on the Day of Judgement, an event of such commotion and fear that: On this day, no man will be able to give succour to another and no mother will be able to save her own child; secondly, the Prophet saw is to intercede with God, on behalf of believers, to seek their forgiveness.
The Prophet’s saw dispensing of mercy on the human race, in this world, will continue on into the Day of Judgement, when he saw will act as a means of benevolence for human beings as they face their greatest trial. The Qur'an states: CHANGE QURANIC QUOTE:
O our Lord! Bless us with all that you have promised us through your messengers and do not humiliate us on the Day of Judgement.
The Station of Praise
God has granted to the Prophet saw the Station of Praise (Maqam Mahmud), also known as the Station of Intercession. This is a position of the highest acclaim and splendour, and reflects Divine acknowledgement of the Prophet’s saw glory; it is also both a reflection, and an appreciation, of the praise that the Creator and humankind will bestow on the Prophet saw in recognition of his saw intercession, on behalf of all humanity, on the Day of Judgement.
According to Islamic belief, as the Emissary of God for the concluding stage of human residency of this world, the Prophet Muhammad saw will also be the representative of humankind after the world ends, on the Day of Judgement. He saw will have the right of intercession with God when the Divine comes to judge His creation. The Prophet saw will plead before the throne of God for the easing of some of the Day’s difficulties, and for clemency for substantial numbers of human beings.
The creation and granting of the position of Intermediary to the Prophet saw, is an expression of God’s mercy for humankind, since it is through this intervention, that many among humankind will be forgiven.
Destruction and Resurrection on the Day of Judgement
At the commencement of the Judgement Day process, the universe will be destroyed and made non-existent; thereupon, God will order Israfeel, the angel of the trumpet, to blow it, /to blow his trumpet and all humanity will rise from their graves and gather before God. The Quran lucidly describes the scene:
“When the sky is ripped apart, obeying its Lord as it rightly must, when the earth is levelled out, casts out its contents, and becomes empty, are being explored as it rightly must,… Whoever is given his record in his right hand will have an easy reckoning and return to his people well pleased, but whoever is given his record from behind his back will cry out for destruction, he will burn in the blazing fire” (Quran 84: 1-12).
The Intercession
Humankind will be gathered in one arena, where they will hear the call, and await their reckoning. Standing barefoot and naked, in the condition in which they were created, humanity will be in great distress: the effects of witnessing unimaginable phenomena taking place, the wait [ing] in uncertainty for the performance of [the] accountability, the fear over its [their] outcome, the disturbing behaviour of many other humans, and the oppressive heat, will all meld to create a horrendous scene embodying terror, desperation, regret, and grieving.
All humankind will rush to assemble around the Prophet saw, entreating him saw to plead their case before God to expedite the process of accountability, and relieve them [thereby relieving them] of the unbearable ordeal being [thus far] endured [to which they are being subjected]. The Prophet (saw) will prostrate and begin to praise and glorify God with such praises and exaltations that no creature has beheld before. The Prophet saw will remain in prostration until God announces:
“O Muhammad, raise your radiant head, speak and you will be heard, demand and you will be blessed with it, and intercede (on behalf of your people), your intercession will be granted.” (Bukhari).
The proceedings of the Divine accountability and judgement ‘court’ will be initiated through the mediation of the Prophet’s saw prayer, praise, and glorification of God. For the sake of the Prophet saw, God will accelerate the act of accountability to alleviate some of the hardships being faced by people. This expediting will be for all believers and nonbelievers alike, and is known as the Universal Intercession at the time of Judgement.
The Compassion of God for His creation will be displayed through the granting of the mercy appealed for, on humanity’s behalf, by the Prophet saw. The intercession of the Prophet saw will seek to achieve five major outcomes: [according to Imam Nawawi]:
- To obtain relief from the terrors of Judgement Day for all humans; this is the aforementioned Universal Intercession.
- To permit certain people to enter heaven without requiring them to undergo the stage of reckoning.
- To grant selected wrongdoers entry into heaven, even though they are deserving of punishment.
- To remove some sinners from hell, after they have entered it.
- To award those individuals who have entered paradise, higher stations than those which they merit.
The purpose of the Prophet’s saw elevation to the Maqam Mahmud is so that he saw would be able intercede for all humanity, believers and non-believers, and thereby be praised by all humanity; for God desired that all human beings, not only believers, praise and honour the Prophet saw, just as God Himself and the angels praise him saw, and the position of Intercessor fulfills/leads to the fulfillment of this Divine desire.
The Miraj
The supreme perfection of the Prophet (saw) is that He saw his saw Lord.
The Prophet saw was invited to God’s Presence in/at Sidharatul….., beyond the seventh heaven, through [by means of an] an ascension. There, in the Divine Court, the Prophet saw was favoured with the beauty of the vision of God [the vision of Divine beauty]. The Prophet saw was honoured with exceptional proximity to the presence of God, with Divine conversation, and with entrustment with/of the Divine decree.
Whilst the Miraj is considered by Muslims as the greatest voyage ever undertaken by a human being, it was, in fact, an event whose objectives [repercussions] extended beyond the Prophet saw and Islam, and involved [were directed to] all human beings: by commencing in Muslim Mecca, and moving onto Christian-Jewish Jerusalem, before proceeding to Heaven, the journey bridged three divinely-revealed religions. Further, God has dispatched a prophet to every human community that has ever existed in this world; and each one of these Prophets ams attended the congregational prayers held in Jerusalem, during the Prophet Muhammad’s saw stopover in the city. Hence, the entire human race was represented in the ‘this-worldly’ segment of the Miraj, through the divine envoys assigned to each society.
Similarly, during the heavenly stage of the Miraj, God appointed the Prophet saw to act on behalf of the whole of humankind; the Prophet saw was addressed as representing every human being, and the Divine purposes were elucidated to the Prophet saw with the intention that, through him saw, they would be disseminated to all humanity. The Prophet saw was made to tour ever-rising spheres, to witness the truths of the pillars of Islamic belief, and to behold the angels, heaven, and hell. God caused the Prophet saw to observe the beauty of His art and the perfection of His workmanship, evident throughout the universe, and especially visible in the existence of His creatures. The Prophet saw was then to return to humankind and inform it of: the greatness of the Creator, the true nature of creation, the authenticity of the realm of the hereafter, and the bestowal of the fundamentals of Islam - the foremost being the prescribed prayers. (F.n.: Bayhaqi, Dala’il al-Nubuwwa, iii, 406; al-Sunna al-Kubra, iv, 362.) Through the Miraj, the Prophet saw understood eternal happiness with absolute certainty, and brought it’s existence, and the steps to its attainment - through following the Divine Laws - as a gift to humankind.
The primary motive for the Miraj was to demonstrate the high standing of the Prophet saw to all creatures:
- No human being can [has been able to] travel across this planet or space without any form of mechanical device, and yet the Prophet saw traversed the cosmos and reached the highest heaven/La Makaan without such a vehicle. This unique accomplishment, which was more readily appreciated from the twentieth century onwards, with the onset of space exploration, testified to the human race of the Prophet’s saw eminence.
- By travelling with his saw earthly body through the heavens, the Prophet’s saw superiority over celestial creatures was exhibited to the inhabitants of the heavens.
- For the congregation prayer held in Jerusalem attended by all Prophets ams, God appointed the Prophet Muhammad saw to lead the prayer, thereby demonstrating his saw seniority over all other envoys.
Conclusion
On several occasions prior to the Miraj, God had granted to the Prophet saw vision of the wonders of nature, of the heavens, and hell, without requiring the Prophet saw to leave earth, as exemplified [given] in this Hadith/ for example:
“The Prophet saw performed Salaat Ul Kusuf. The Sahabah said: O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)! We saw that you made a move to take something in your blessed hand, then drew back. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Verily! Jannah [paradise] was presented before me and I decided to take a bunch of grapes from it (then I changed my decision) and if I had taken it, then you would have been eating from it until the end of the world and it would never have been finished.” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 706)
Since the Prophet saw had access to knowledge and vision of the heavenly realm, from this earth itself, what was the objective of taking him on a tour of those worlds?
Immediately prior to the Miraj, the Prophet saw had been propagating his saw religion in Taif, but faced hostility. He saw was subjected to violence, and stones rained down on Him to the extent that His saw feet bled, and the blod clogged his saw shoes. It was in such circumstances that God summoned the Prophet saw to His Court, to console him saw and to reveal his saw status before all by demonstrating that the feet which were made to bleed are those feet that even the ‘Arsh of Almighty Allah kisses them and gains blessings from them. The Miraj is a gift from God to the Prophet (S.A.W) to show His rank and honor in the heavens and the earth. [[[REWORD LAST TWO SENTENCE]]]

God said in the Holy Qur’ān:
Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless, in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the One Who Heareth and Seth (all things).[3]
This verse describes the important journey that Prophet saw made between the Prohibited Mosque in Mecca and the Temple in Jerusalem (referred to as the Farthest Mosque, Masjid al-Aqsā[4]), a journey that in one moment bridged three divinely-revealed religions.ew Paragraph
SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES
The Prophet saw was gifted with a wide spectrum/range/array of psychic powers and enhanced human qualities, in addition to the paranormal phenomena that constituted the miracles he saw performed. These abilities aided the Prophet's saw work, and for the reason because/that they transcended the laws of nature and lay beyond the powers of human beings, they also served to prove the veracity of his saw prophethood.
Psychic Powers abilities
These powers included:
Prophecy - The ability to foretell events, without using induction or deduction from known facts.
Retrocognition - The ability to supernaturally perceive or gain knowledge of past events.
Witnessing - The gift of being visited by high profile spiritual beings such as the archangel Gabriel as.
Clairvoyance - The ability to see objects and events that are taking place great distances away,
Dream Telepathy - The ability to telepathically communicate with another person through dreams.
Celestial Communication - The ability to communicate with creatures or orders of existence beyond the visible, observable universe, such as angels, spirits, jinn, and other celestial beings
Enhance Human Attributes
Appearance - Holy Dread
“Whoever saw him unexpectedly was
awestricken by him, but whoever came to
know him, loved him.”
The fourth Caliph Ali (al-Tirmidhi, no.3638)
The Prophet saw possessed Holy Dread (Haybah), a God-given quality that lead His saw companions to experience a reverential fear in the face of the his saw Prophetic Majesty. The Prophet’s saw grandeur and tremendousness overwhelmed his saw Companions and filled them with awe. The Prophetic aura radiated [of] Power, Magnificence, Incomparability, and Utter Unknowableness, it was both wonder-inspiring and fear-inspiring, and it was at once, bewildering and intoxicating. The imposing presence of the chief emissary of God was, unsurprisingly, one that could not but engender alarm and holy dread.
Appearance - Physical Attraction
The Prophet saw body contained features which significantly appealed to other human beings, and thus aided his saw missionary work. He saw possessed, for example, a muscular physique, white luminescent skin, large clear eyes, arched eye-brows, a wide smile, long flowing locks. He was regarded as more handsome, then the Prophet Joseph as, whose natural beauty is lauded in the Quran.
"The Holy Prophet's (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) beauty has not been revealed
completely to us. If it was done so, then
our eyes would not be able to bear His
sight.”
Imam Qustullani relates on the authority of Imam Qurtubi
“Even if there were not, concerning him,
clear and evident signs, yet the sight of him would have told you the news.”
Abd Allah ibn Rawaha al-Ansari -
The great-grandson of the poet Imru' al-Qays
Speech
Two aspects of the Prophet’s saw speech are remarkable: (i) the manner of his saw speaking, and (ii) the source of/for the content of his saw speech:
Jawami ul-Kalim
The Prophet saw was an eminently effectual communicator who possessed the gift of Jawami ul-Kalim - a poetic way with words, enabling him to convey a considerable amount of information in a few words. (say much with only a few words/ the ability to give much information in a few words. To inculcate particularly significant points, the Prophet saw would repeat the information three times, and this practice together with the precision in his saw phrasing and rhythm, gave him saw tremendous [absolute] power over his saw auditors.
The Prophet’s saw closest Companion and the First Caliph of Islam, Abu Bakr Siddiq, once raised the matter of Prophet’s saw mastery of oratory, with the Prophet saw:
“O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), I have toured the entire Arabian
peninsula. I have heard the poets of Arabia but I have never heard anybody as
eloquent as You.
The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said,
My Lord i.e. Allah SWT taught Me and brought Me up and how well has He taught Me. [FIND EXACT QUOTE FOR WHERE PUT SPEECH MARKS]
The Source
The Prophet saw did not talk [speak] out of personal desire, but was made to speak by God; and that which [what] he saw spoke, was not said on his saw own behalf, but the conveying of the Divine’s speech. The Prophet saw received instruction from God, and then he taught, for God was teaching the Prophet saw, causing him saw to speak, and teaching by means of him saw. The Divine origin [source] of the Prophet’s saw speech is affirmed in the Quran:
“Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. It is not but a revelation
revealed.”
Quran 53:3-4, 53:3-4) Surah Najm
This revelation is of two kinds:
Explicit Revelation.
In this case, the Prophet saw is merely an interpreter and announcer, with no share in the content. The Quran and certain Sacred Hadith are included in this type of Revelation.
Implicit Revelation.
The essence of this is also based on Revelation or Inspiration from the Divine, but its explanation was left to the Prophet saw. To explain such Revelation, the Prophet saw depended on either, Revelation or Inspiration, or where necessary, he resorted to his saw own insight; in the latter case, the Prophet saw relied on the perceptive power given to him saw as part of his saw prophetic makeup, or, on occasions, he saw expounded certain Divine knowledge by utilising the faculties inherent in his saw purely human state, and articulated the understanding in accordance with locally accepted terminology [usage], custom, and the level of common comprehension.
The Prophet saw is inspired by God through the Holy Spirit – the Archangel Gabriel as??:
The Trustworthy Spirit descended with it [the revelation] upon your heart so that you would be among the warners in clear Arabic language.
Quran 26:192-194
And that We have inspired you [Muhammad] with a Spirit from Our Command.
Quran 42:52
These verses illustrate the nature of the revelation which God has granted to the Prophet saw.
Firstly, this revelation is spiritual in nature and flows through the Holy Spirit that comes from God’s Command.
Secondly, the revelation comes upon the Prophet saw through his heart – the spiritual faculty of the human soul – and not in the form of sounds, words, or letters. The revelation is, thus, not a form of verbal dictation.
Thirdly, the verses show how whatever the Prophet saw says, does, or thinks is based on divine revelation or inspiration – not only the revealed Quran – but all of the Prophet’s saw speech and guidance is guided by God and not from human whims or desires. However, while explicit revelation, such as the delivery of Quranic verses, occurred at specific occasions only, implicit revelation such as related to the everyday [day-to-day] speech of the Prophet saw, is continuous and not discrete – it does not cease at one moment and resume at another – but continues like a stream.
departing from what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of natu re

--Multi-Directional Sight
The Prophet saw could see in all 6 directions simultaneously: front, back, right, left, above, and below. Nothing was hidden from his saw sight. He saw could, for example, see his saw companions at prayer, whilst he saw himself would also be praying and they would be behind him saw. He saw once exclaimed:
“Do you think that I face the qiblah (and do not know what you are doing)? By Allah, your bowing and prostrating are not hidden from me; I can see you behind my back.”
(F.N. The Prophet saw quoted by/ Hadith from Sahih Bukhari /Al-Bukhaari (741) and Muslim (424) narrated from/ on the authority of Abu Hurayrah).
--Multi-Dimensional Vision
He saw was able to see the angels, the jinn, and the conditions of those who were deceased and in their graves - whom no body else from his companions could normally see. The Prophet saw would see all parts of the earth, and heaven and hell over the skies:
“Without doubt Allah SWT had placed the whole earth in front of Me and I saw its ends.”
(Sahih Muslim Vol 2, Pg No: 390, Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol 5, Pg No; 9)
“I have seen all the things of this universe from where I stood, to the extent that I have seen Heaven and hell also.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 1, Pg No: 126, Pg No: 18)
--Long Distance Hearing
Sounds from near and far were the same for the Prophet saw. Whilst seated on the earth, he would hear the ‘creaking’ of the sky:
”I see what you can’t, I hear what you can’t. The sky creaks and its creaking is necessary. For there is not a span of even a hand’s width that is not filled with angels prostrating before the Lord Almighty Allah SWT.” (Jame Tirmidhi, Vol 2, Pg No: 57)
Whenever any follower of the Prophet saw called out to him saw for assistance, irregardless of their distance from the Prophet saw, the Prophet saw could hear the call and help that follower. Ummul Momineen Hadhrat Maimoona (May Allah be well pleased with him) says that on a certain night, she heard the Prophet saw saying while in the washroom:
“You have been helped, You have been helped.” I asked Him (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) about this. He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) replied it was a person from Bani Ka’ab who requested Me for help.”
--Extended Periods Without Food or Liquids
The Prophet saw would often fast continuously for several days together, without consuming [any] food or drink. The Prophet’s saw Companions also attempted such extended fasting in emulation of Him saw, but became overcome [overwhelmed] with weakness and infirmity. The Prophet saw explained his saw ability to abstain from sustenance [m. meaning foods and drinks] was due to a form of nourishment received directly from God:
Who among you is like me? I spend my nights at my Lord’s. My Lord feeds me.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 1825)
-A Magnificent Nature
The Prophet saw possessed an immaculate, exemplary character, bestowed on him saw by God. The Quran describes the Prophet’s nature as “magnificent”:
“Truly, You (O Muhammad!) are of a
magnificent character.”
(68:4)
Through the grace of God, the Prophet’s saw heart became infused with joy and overwhelmed by an inexpressible sweetness.
Once the Prophet’s saw followers were exposed to these wonderous qualities they were lost in them. The believers who had a deeper understanding of the Prophet saw, were pervaded by an overwhelming love for the Prophet saw. The Prophet saw was the Beloved of God, and now he saw also became the Beloved of God’s creation. The believers had an intense longing and yearning for the Prophet saw - a longing to behold the Prophet saw, and a yearning for nearness to the Prophet saw. This was a love which was greater than anything they had experienced before, and one which only a Divine Emissary could inspire.
Significantly, the Quran also refers to itself as “magnificent”. Fn1 “the magnificent Quran (15:87). The identically-termed praise, [undoubtedly,] signifies that the Prophet’s saw inner constitution was created in accordance with the personality traits espoused by the Quran.
The Prophet’s saw internalisation of these attributes, and their external manifestation, was perfect. The flawlessness of the Prophet’s saw disposition was essential for four reasons:
(i) As the supreme creation of God, his saw psychological makeup had to correspond to his saw superior standing; (ii) To demonstrate the model human personality; (iii) Qualities such as an elevated morality, and a distinctly honourable comportment, would enhance his saw appeal to the intellect and emotions of his saw audience, and, thereby aid him saw in attracting the largest possible number of people to his saw faith; (iv) The more a human being absorbs God’s ‘beautiful’ character traits, His Names and Attributes, the more their nature is transformed by His beauty, and the more God loves them. Hence, in order to become God’s most beloved creature, it was essential for the Prophet saw to completely embody the Divine Names and Attributes, and so to become the Quranic definition of the ‘ideal human’.
The distinguished nature of the Prophet saw was the cause of the conversion of many people to Islam. It was also the reason why hundreds of millions of followers have chosen to rise from being mere believers, to becoming committed practitioners of the faith’s obligatory and voluntary worships, rituals, and abstinences, as well as comprehensive emulaters of the Prophet’s saw personality.

The signs of prophethood are only associated with the prophets and prove their veracity. They contravene natural phenomena , lie beyond the powers of human beings and jinns, and are incontestable.... signs proving the veraciousness of of the prophets ams .. God has made them the proof for the veracity of the person who offers them.
The idea that the human body can survive indefinitely without food is called inedia. Practitioners claim that by using various methods and techniques, they can function normally without traditional nourishment. In the Catholic faith, several saints and Jesus himself were known to live for extended periods of time without sustenance. New Paragraph
Divine testing of humanity
Through the creation of satan, the doctrine of man's accountability, and the sending of religion, an arena of trial and examination, and striving and competition, has been opened so that ignoble humans may be distinguished and from exalted souls. By issuing commands and prohibitions, God introduces causal factors that force human beings to assume responsibility for what they will become on the moral and spiritual levels.
In addition, humankind must contend with one other challenge, his/her own flaws. Human souls are susceptible to a number of spiritual diseases or ‘weaknesses’: these include despair, desperation, recklessness, arrogance, vanity, pride, disdain, anger, ‘evil’ temperament, doubts, fear, haste, miserliness, greediness, ignorance, love of wealth, oppression, suspiciousness, and haughtiness.
Much of humanity lives in a condition of heedlessness. Imagining themselves immortal, and the world their personal playground, too many humans devote their energies to the excessive pursuit of wealth, sensual pleasures, status, and renown. Such disorders provide an opening for satan to penetrate deeply into the soul and adversely affect human beliefs and behaviour.
Thus, human beings must not only live their lives to satisfy their material needs, while coping with the various conditions and difficulties that are integral to human existence, they must do so in compliance with God’s commandments, and in contention with the satanic forces and their own inherent flaws, that seek to undermine their adherance to Divine instructions.
To overcome the obstacles in the way to adopting a lifestyle pleasing to God, an aspirant is required follow a path of revaluation, struggle, and patience. The hardships encountered in overcoming often deep-rooted inclinations can prove insurmountable for some, particularly those without support.
Divine Aid
The Prophet’s saw call and his saw example, were to be the catalyst and support to induce profound internal transformations throughout humanity. Human beings were to be made to realize the purpose of their creation, their reponsibilities, and their ultimate fate. They were to be shown, on the one hand, how fragile and inescapably mortal they are, and on the other, to understand that aging, illness, and death, were be viewed not simply as unavoidable realities which must somehow be coped with at the practical level, but as events carrying immense meanings. People were to make the fundamental changes required in their existential priorities and personal values; instead of letting their lives be consumed by transient trivia, they must give weight to objectives and actions that will exert a lasting positive influence on their long-range destinies - the life in the grave, and the Day of Judgement - and upon their final destiny, of either heaven or hell.
By impressing upon human minds the radical deficiency that runs through most peoples’ worldly concerns, the precarious nature of human life, the Divine expectations, and the aftermath of the life led in this world, it was anticipated that a jolt will occur, an inner commotion which does not allow a person to rest content with their habitual adjustment to the world. Instead it drives them on, out of their established existence and onto the route leading to the alignment of their lives with Divine diktats.
How to convey how an ideal believer should live
Having apprised human beings of the reality of their earthly existence, it was then necessary to convey the qualities required of them as ideal believers in God. Islam chose to convey this information in two ways: (i) The Quran and Prophetic Traditions (Hadith) – both define the attributes of such a person; (ii) To have regard to, not an imaginary, phantasmal being, but an actual, tangible personality who is built-up on the Divine model and who could be emulated. This was an individual who could be repeatedly studied, through numerous situations in real, complex life; and one who may be questioned, from whom further guidance could be sought, and whose community was sufficiently developed so as to faithfully record his example for future generations. This individual, the archetype believer, was the Prophet Muhammad saw.
required a prototype human being to preach to the whole of this species.
Perfect Model
The conveyor of God’s directives to humankind, had to be one from their own species, if he was to be acceptable to a diverse range of people. The Prophet Muhammad was the prototype human being and, thus, imitated the attributes of God par excellence and translated them into practice in the highest form possible for humankind. The process of knowing the Prophet saw reveals a perfect human, created with pure intellect, in whom all the human values have had their maximum growth in synergy. Every stage of his saw life highlighted a different aspect of his saw prophetic distinction, and demonstrated, also, his saw exemplary performance in a number of commonly experienced human roles.
The Prophet saw was a merchant, shepherd, and soldier, and he saw was also a preacher, judge, religious law-giver, military commander, statesman, and national leader; He saw was a husband, a father - who was bereaved many [several] times over, a grandfather, friend, companion, neighbour, as well as an orphan, exile, and widower. In all these roles, the Prophet saw exemplified the Islamic ideal. His saw wife, the lady Aishah, was once asked as to what he saw was like. She responded: ‘His character was that of the Quran’, for her intimate knowledge of the Prophet’s saw life and character led her to conclude he was the living embodiment of the Revelation – he was, so to speak, the ‘walking’ Quran. The Prophet’s saw experience of life across such an exceptional range of human endeavours, and, that too, at the level of ‘perfection’, meant that he saw is considered by Muslim theologians as the model for every male and female; adolescent, middle-aged and elderly.
EXTRA:
[[The Prophet’s role with regard to believers is not limited to transmitting the Word. The impact of his recitation transforms them inwardly, and they learn the letter of the text and its meaning at the same time, as well as how to put it into practice: what the Qurʾān calls “wisdom” (al-ḥikma): “Even as we have sent among you a Messenger from among you, who recites Our signs to you and purifies you, and teaches you the Book and Wisdom, and teaches you what you knew not.” (Q 2:151).]]
Documenting the Prophet’s saw life
The Companions recorded the minutest details of the Prophet’s saw conditions and actions. Each piece of information was transmitted widely throughout the community and then from one generation to the next, till the present day.
All facets of the Prophet’s saw life were documented; from his saw appearance, personal qualities, mannerisms, speech, actions, family and private life, religious practices, and relations with others, to his saw public life, work, guidance, sermons, beliefs, leadership, and achievements; all were meticulously chronicled and where necessary, interpreted, for the Prophet saw was to be both a spiritual, and a practical, day-to-day example to believers.
The result of such reporting is that it has allowed those wishing to emulate the Prophet saw, to do so as if ‘he saw was standing before them’. The level of detail enables believers to replicate many of the Prophet’s saw actions and practices with considerable exactness:
[Believers choose to] consume the foods the Prophet saw favoured, sitting down [[to relax the abdomen], eating food from the front of the plate, with their hands, the right hand only putting food in the mouth, and in the manner of extended chewing that he saw advised, drink liquids in the way he saw drank seated, by ……. 3 and swallowed liquids with the container held in the right hand, sleep in the position he saw slept and with the accompanying pre-hand ablutions, purify themselves, after the call of nature, with water, conserve water by bathe through the ritual washing techniques he saw favoured using ?? litres of water in the custom he saw followed, do not allow liquids or solids classed as ‘filth’ on an area greater than 2.5 on the body or clothing during prayers, use ?? litres of water for ablutions, and ?? litres for bathing, men keep style their hair with a centre parting as the Prophet saw favoured, trim their beards to the length kept by the Prophet saw, dress in the type and style of clothing he saw chose, walk……….. eperform the worships he saw did in and in exactly the same manner, eradicate from their personalities abhorred qualities such as lying, deceit, slander, anger, and jealousy.
Understanding Human Dispositions
Developing qualities such as mercy, beneficience, justice, as well as many other moral and ethical traits does not happen simply by the natural course of events; it calls for the engagement of the will. Only by choosing the good over the evil, right over the wrong, the beautiful over the ugly, can people acquire these attributes.
The Prophetic constitution embodies complete knowledge of human psychology. The Prophet Muhammad saw understood human dispositions, and possessed the qualities/ability to implement deep-rooted transformations in human character. Firstly, he saw practiced what he saw preached, and His saw example, which was demonstrably based on the fundamental scientific and medical principles espoused in the Quran, won the hearts and minds of those around him. Secondly, he saw employed sound psychological principles to counsel his saw audience: he saw positively expected behavioural change; he saw used reason and rational arguments to liberate people from the natural limitations that often hinder them from realizing their true moral potential; and he saw urged his saw audience to use intellect and imagination to learn, change and grow.
The Prophet saw mapped out the possibilities of human becoming, and clarified the Divine recognition that humans differ in their capacity to harmonise their lives with Divine mandates. Humanity in general was created in a position of perfection, but individuals must realize this position for themselves. The Prophet saw offered choice: he saw showed the route to perfection to those who desired it, and the ways to acceptable levels of lower religiosity, to those that preferred to take advantage of the flexibility within the faith.

Meaning in the events of the Prophet’s saw mission
Numerous experiences and incidents that occurred during the Prophet’s saw tenure held profound lessons for humanity:
# Incorruptibility
The Prophet saw was by nature a contemplative, and entertained no political or worldly ambitions. Before being appointed to prophethood, he saw avoided frequenting social gatherings and activities, and preferred to spend long periods in the cave of Hira' in solitude and meditation. As a merchant he often led caravans from Mecca to Syria and other destinations, passing through the silence of the desert whose very 'infinity' induces human minds towards contemplation. Thus, despite being part of Meccan nobility, he saw did not believe himself to be by nature a man of the world or one who was naturally inclined to seek political power among the Quraysh, or social eminence in Meccan society.
It was difficult, then, for him saw to accept the burden of prophecy which entailed the founding of not only a new religion, but also a new social and political order. After receiving the first Divine revelation, the Prophet saw confessed to his wife, Khadijah, and how fearful he was of all that such a mission required.
The fact that the Prophet saw never wanted to be a Prophet or leader, a characteristic found in many extraordinary leaders, was one of the key traits that made him such a successful Divine envoy and leader. To the Prophet saw, power, fame, and wealth were meaningless. His saw venture into the world and the affairs of humankind was solely at the command of his saw creator, and only to the extent required to complete his saw assignment.
Casting aside all the trappings of power – political honour, emoluments, the association of the worldly and the wealthy – the prophet saw stood forth and proclaimed his saw religion, and welcomed the ostracism that came with it. The notables of Quarish offered him property, positions of authority, and marriage into their families, in return for concealing his saw beliefs, or otherwise face loss, the scorn of the public, and ultimately, oppression. Despite persistent attempts to entice and intimidate the Prophet saw, leading eventually to repression and the migration of the Prophet saw to Medina, the Prophet saw made his saw stand and continued to avow his saw beliefs.
# Altruism
During the Prophet’s saw ascension to Heaven, when he had reached great proximity to God, he saw could have appealed to remain in that hallowed position forever - knowing his saw request would not have been denied; however, he saw chose instead to return to the world that had caused him saw so much suffering, inorder to save it [humankind] from inevitable disaster on the Day of Judgement.
The Islamic theologian, Abd’ul-Quddus, commented on the Prophet’s saw decision: “If I were to reach that position and was between deciding whether to return or to stay there, I would choose to stay and would never return”.
The significance of the Prophet’s saw selflessness was all the more significant because right up to the moment of the miral/night of the Miraj, the Prophet saw was suffering the physical effects of months-long ill-treatment/injury’s inflicted and immediately after the Miraj he saw would be returning to Mecca, and to a continutation of the severe oppression he had been facing for several months?? In preference to his personal safety and ease, he saw gave precedence to protecting his saw followers and continuing his saw vital mission.
# Forgiveness
When the Prophet saw commenced his saw mission, he saw encountered a world mired in ignorance and corruption. Few welcomed him saw, and for the first thirteen years of his saw mission, he saw endured abuse and persecution at the hands of his fellow Makkans, including periods when his companions were beaten, tortured and in some cases, killed.
The Makkans, the Prophet’s saw own people, tormented the Prophet saw and his saw followers to the extent, that [[some lost their lives while others]]they were forced to emigrate to Madina. However, (five years later??) in the twenty-first year of his Prophethood, the Prophet saw and His companions conquered Makka without bloodshed. Upon his triumphant entry into Mecca, the Prophet saw asked the Makkans: “How do you expect me to treat you?” They responded unanimously: “You are a noble one, the son of a noble one.” The Prophet saw forbade any notions of seeking retribution or recompense against his saw peoples’ former oppressors … then told them his decision: “You may leave, for no reproach this day shall be on you. May God forgive you. He is the Most Compassionate of the Compassionate.
This demonstration of clemency ensured that the virtue was ingrained the minds of the Prophet’s saw companions, and future generations. The example was emulated famously by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror when he repeated the Prophet’s saw words to the Byzantines, after conquering/defeating them.
# Stoicism
It was the will of God that the Prophet saw undergo a spectrum of adversities both before, and during, his saw mission. The purpose of these episodes was to demonstrate that, not only was adversity a universal human experience, that noone was immune from [to which not even the Prophets ams were immune], but that such happenings possessed a beneficial, educative edification role/function. The misfortunes suffered by the Prophet saw occurred either so that he saw might learn to bear them with becoming fortitude and raise his saw stature, to educate the Prophet’s saw community about particular concepts beliefs, or that through the Prophet’s saw responses to those happenings, his saw community, and humanity in general, would learn how to react to, and manage, such difficulties in their lives:
1. He saw underwent tribulations such as poverty, orphanhood, exclusion, the deaths of his saw children, bad-governance, and corruption, so that he saw was able understand, more acutely, the common person’s difficulties.
2. The oppression that the Prophet saw faced illustrated the fact that whereas human beings have a tremendous capacity for goodness, they also have a considerable capability for evil. However, those who persecuted the Prophet saw are not to be denounced for the Prophet saw did not suffer so that his saw persecuters may be condemned, but rather to demonstrate the boundless potential innate within/possessed by humankind for both good and evil, and to urge human beings to reflect upon, and subdue, the potential for evil within themselves
3. His saw suffering of human difficulties further proved that he saw was a human being. The Quran and Hadith have gone to great lengths to emphasise the fact that the Prophet saw was human, and neither an angel, any other type of celestial being, nor in some way divine. The Prophet saw had a normal human birth, he saw lived, aged, enjoyed good health and fell ill, felt joy and sorrow, he saw ate and drank common foods and drinks, married, and had children and grandchildren, and left behind a progeny.
# Divine Mercy
The human duty of knowing and worshipping God, through comprehending His names and attributes, was addressed by experiences in the prophet’s saw tenure that served to convey further knowledge of these names and attributes.
The Prophet saw suffered periods of starvation where he was forced to tie stones around his saw stomach to alleviate the intense hunger pains. Such deprivation served to not only demonstrate affinity with a seemingly permanent portion of humanity, who, to this day, continue to face acute food and water shortages, but also to highlight God’s attribute of Ar-Rahman (The All-Merciful); for it is God who ultimately creates the conditions for humanity to be nourished.
If hunger did not exist, humankind would not be able to appreciate the value of food, and in turn would not realise that God is The All-Merciful (Ar-Rahman). Suffering from various, unwanted states is not to be cultivated, but where it does overpower a person, efforts to surmount the condition should be combined with knowledge of the Divine reasons behind such clamities. The absence of misfortunes would limit human knowledge of particular names and attributes of God; they would, in effect, become an obstacle between human understanding of the purpose of their creation: to know and worship our Lord.
# Divine Self-Sufficiency
Certain concepts were taught by God and the Prophet saw by presenting both the notion and its contrary.
The episodes of extreme poverty experienced by the Prophet saw demonstrated the absence of self-sufficiency, and thereby served to indirectly manifest the Divine name: Al-Ghani (The Self-Sufficient).
In contrast, the possession of abundant resources by members Makkah’s ruling-elite [Prophet’s saw community], which enabled them to enjoy self-sufficiency and autonomy, was a direct manifestation of the name Al-Ghani (The Self-Sufficient) .
The ability to exist without requiring financial [or all types of assistance look up Al-Ghani ] assistance from others, allows human beings to grasp the concept of self-sufficiency, which in turn endows them with some comprehension of what it means for God to be Al-Ghani (The Self-Sufficient). However, self-sufficiency is only understandable with the existence of its contrary condition: poverty. If the latter was not a reality – that is, if all humans had the same degree of resources at their disposal – humanity would be prevented from gaining knowledge of a Divine name. The incidence of poverty amongst humanity is, therefore, a vital component to fulfilling the key purpose of creation: to know and worship God.
Quran And Hadith Advocate Emulation Of The Prophet Saw
Both the Quran and the Hadith strongly counsel believers to follow the Prophet’s saw example:
The Quran describes the Prophet saw as the perfect model here with the words it directs at him, “You have a magnificent character [khuluq ‘azim]” (68:4); this is an unequivocal reference to the full realisation of the divine speech, “the magnificent Quran?”? (al-qur’an al-azim, 15:87), in the persona of the Prophet saw.
Elsewhere, the Quran advises: You have in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful example. [33:21]
Another verse of the Quran links emulation with love of God: Say: “If you do love God, follow me; God will love you”(3:31). This verse proclaims that love of God necessitates, and results, in following the Prophet’s saw practices: If you love God, you will follow God’s Prophet saw, the conveyer of God’s plans and instructions for you. If you do not follow him, it points to the conclusion that you do not love God.
The Hadith admonish those who fail to follow the Prophet’s saw example: ‘Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me.’ [Al-Bukhari, no.5063; Muslim, no.1401]
Emulate to cultivate closeness to the Prophet saw
The imitation of the Prophet saw, particularly in non-obligatory practices and rituals, allows a believer to fulfil certain praiseworthy principles, and, thereby, attain progress along the path of piety. These principles include:
Honouring
Emulating the Prophet saw amounts to honouring the Prophet saw. It is a celebration of the Prophet’s saw life on a daily basis. For the devout, the adherance to the Prophet’s saw teachings and reproduction of his saw character, combined with the retention of deep respect for the Prophet saw, and the invokation of blessings of peace upon him, all constitute rememberance and high honour of the Prophet saw.
Obedience
The emulation of the Prophet saw in practices which are not compulsory (fard), for example, those which are recommended as praiseworthy (Sunnat), or classed as purely voluntary (Nafl, Nawafil), signifies exceptional obedience to the Prophet saw. The quality is considered a central part of faith, and a benchmark of committed believers.
Satisfying A Prophetic Entitlement
Emulation of the Prophet saw is also a right that believers owe him saw. The Prophet Muhammad saw, like the Prophets ams that preceded him saw, was sent to be followed. He saw was to teach, and to bring alive those teachings, by implementing them in his saw own life, to ease their adoption by his saw followers. God did not create and send 124,000 prophets to this world, just to have them ignored. The Prophets ams were to be valued, obeyed, and honoured.
While it is evident that the majority of humanity does not esteem the Divine commandments or follow the Prophets ams, primarily, because it does not possess the conviction to appreciate the benefits of these sources of Divine instructions, God certainly knows their worth, which is why He has repeatedly sent both since humans first appeared in this world. There are certain expectations of believing human beings, the foremost of which is to follow, and hold in the highest regard, the Divine envoy appointed for their well-being and salvation.
