The birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad is being threatened with destruction by extremists
Significance of the Birthplace
When one walks onto the birthplace site, one is entering the precise space selected by God as the gateway for His supreme creation, the Prophet Muhammad saw, to enter this world. M. Arif Khan
The first house of the first appointed Prophet of God is situated in close proximity to the first house of worship of God on Earth – the Kaba. This is no coincidence. The greatest Prophet of God, whose life was devoted to promoting the pure worship of God, was chosen [by God] to be born in the vicinity of the greatest place of worship.
Islam is the only world religion to possess, and have preserved, the Birth site, Death site, and Burial site of its founder.

The Kaaba & The Birthplace
A testament to Reflecting the closeness between God and the Prophet
The setting of the Kaaba and the birthplace in imminence, in a mountain-framed setting [valley] in Mecca, is one of the most profound symbols of the Islamic faith. It mirrors the closeness between God and His most-beloved Prophet saw, as espoused by Islam.
It is the earthly, physical manifestation of the intimacy signified by the inscribing of the Prophet’s saw name on the Throne of God (The Arsh), the inviting of the Prophet saw to the Divine presence of God (the Miraj), and the elevation of the Prophet’s saw honour through the proclamation of God: "Certainly God and His Angels honour the Prophet (Muhammad)….” The Holy Qur'an Chpt. 33 v.57.
While the Kaaba is the birthplace of the highest act a human being may perform in his earthly life – the communal worship of God; the Prophet’s birth site is the birthplace of the only human appointed by God to teach all mankind how to perform this greatest of rituals.
Both birthplaces could have been located thousands of miles apart, yet by Divine design, and so with great merit, they are sited within meters of one/each other.

Links to the Prophet Abraham
As with the Kaaba, the birthplace also has close connections with the Prophet Abraham
The birthplace was created by direct descendants of the Prophet Abraham as - the Prophet who re-built the Kaaba.
The birthplace was the scene of large-scale, miraculous events that occurred at the time of the Prophet’s saw birth. The Prophet saw was born and raised under the spiritual influences that emanated from the Kaaba and surrounded the birthplace, and the birthplace continued to hold deeply-treasured memories for the Prophet saw of his blessed parents, both descendents of the Prophet Abraham, throughout his saw earthly tenure….lifetime.
One of the Oldest Mosques in the World
This house of the Prophet saw was also a House of God – having been consecrated as a mosque early in its history. As a host for congregations to communicate with God through prayer, the house symbolises divine presence.
This is, then, the site of one of the oldest mosques in existence, and after the Grand Mosques of the Haram in Mecca, the Prophet’s saw Mosque in Madina, and the Al Aqsa mosque in Palestine, it is considered as the most sacred mosque in Islam.
The Fourth Holiest Site in Islam
After the three grand mosques, the history of the birthplace is so immediately linked to the life of the Prophet saw that it cannot be equalled by any other surviving structure.
This is the belief of all major branches of Islam: Sunni (mainstream Muslims), Shia, and moderate followers of the Mohammad Al Wahhab Movement.
The birthplace's associations with the Prophet Muhammad saw, the Prophet Abraham as, the Kaaba, and the miracles, all combine to make this site the carrier of immense cultural and spiritual values for Muslims.
The birthplace is considered by mainstream Muslims as the fourth holiest site in Islam – after the sacred sites of the Haram in Mecca, the Prophet’s saw Mosque in Madina, and the Al Aqsa mosque in Palestine.
Protected For 1500 Years
The site has been passed from the first Muslims to the present. It was initially guarded by close companions of the Prophet saw, and then preserved and embellished by numerous leaders of the Islamic world.
Over a span of 1500 years, from the first caliph Abu Bakr to the present-day Saudi Royal family, during which every other ancient site in Mecca has been demolished, developed, and then repeatedly redeveloped, the birthplace has remained intact. The result of this systematic safeguarding is that today:
Islam is the only world religion to possess, and have preserved, the Birth site, Death site, and Burial site of its founder.
why did God want the Prophet to be born so close to the Kaba
